Indie Grits Film Festival

The 1st Annual Indie Grits Film Festival, to be held at the Nickelodeon Theatre in Columbia, South Carolina May 31- June 3, 2007, has opened its call for submissions. Seeking work that embraces grittiness, transcends boundaries or defies categorization, the festival is open to all filmmakers from the Southeast. Indie Grits accepts submissions of any length and any genre and will provide over $7,000 in cash and prizes. Southern Circuit

Southern Circuit, currently in its 30th year, is an annual touring program showcasing and supporting independent filmmakers. The film series provides the opportunity for filmmakers to travel throughout the Southeast with their works and screen them to new audiences. The Nickelodeon Theatre is a Southern Circuit venue. Southern Circuit is a program of the South Carolina Arts Commission and local sponsors.

This link is to a website suggested as a result of the discussion on the Community Film Forum screening of "Easy Street." According to the 2005 Homeless Count, there were 1753 homeless people living in the Midlands area. We will gather 1753 people on the weekend of November 16, 17 in conjunction with National Homelessness Awareness Week to sleep in Finlay Park on Friday Night.
